Associate Attorney
After receiving an undergraduate degree in psychology from Auburn University, John moved north to Baltimore, Maryland. There, he worked for the Baltimore Orioles as a member of the grounds-crew before deciding to attend law school. He remained in Maryland and studied law at the University of Baltimore, School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree with a concentration in Intellectual Property. While at the University of Baltimore, John began learning the skills necessary for a successful trial lawyer as a member of the University’s Employment Law trial team.
Following law school, John moved back to his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama and practiced law with the firm Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt. Shortly thereafter, he accepted the opportunity to join in the fight for justice as an attorney with Wettermark & Keith. John primarily handles cases for individuals who have been injured through the negligence of others. He also handles workers’ compensation and social security disability cases for W&K clients.
John is married to Leslie Nelson McElheny and is the proud father of Abby, Miles, and Reid. If he is not spending time with his wife and children, he is likely attempting to hold on to his “weekend warrior” status by participating in any number of sports or activities. He is the star receiver and safety for W&K’s flag football team.
